But as Sudanese leaders pledged not to attack Egypt - echoing an Egyptian pledge of non-aggression - it's increasingly clear that the rallies and banners are part of another war - the one at home. Since the June 26th attempted assassination of Egyptian President Mubarak in Ethiopia, relations between Sudan and Egypt have reached crisis point. Professor Balghis Badri is an anthropologist and feminist. A pioneer in introducing women and gender studies and training in Sudan at undergraduate and graduate levels and in some Middle Eastern countries. She is also a fighter for abolishing Female Genital Mutilation, for ratification of CEDAW, Women's Rights, the quota in the electoral law, engendering peace and development. On 4 April 2016, UNAMID Joint Special Representative (JSR), Martin Uhomoibhi, held his first press conference in the capital, Khartoum, since his arrival in Sudan three months ago.
